Endowment Compaints Information Please!

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was hoping to get some direction on how to proceed with an endowment complaint. The endowment was predicted to shortfall by around £7,000 so I converted my mortgage to repayment and began to seek compensation from my endowment provider, their offer was very low compared to the shortfall and I have no Idea of how I would go about challenging it. I understand that the compensation will not necessarily equal the shortfall but I am not ready to cut my losses. How can I challenge the compensation offer?

Go to the Which consumer web site. Look for endowment complaints. There is a simple letter there that you complete with your details and then send off to the insurance company. It could'nt be simpler. If you have a case you then receive a letter asking for much more detailed information. This would normally take about 1 hour to complete. Whatever you do don't go to any of these compensation companies. They are parasites and will take 25% of the payout.

Good luck!

absolutely 100% agreed.

And if you can't get an acceptable offer from whoever sold you the endowment, they should refer you to the Financial Ombudsman Service - www.fos.org.uk

How can I challenge the compensation offer?

I had some success using an on line endowment redress calculator. www.exasoft.biz/MFWebUser/ It uses the same software as most of the large insurance companies and is also used by FOS It was recommended by Which? in their May magazine, I used it and the claim vlaue was increased from £834 to £1,740 ... let me know how you get on!
