10 Rounds With (a Younger) Mike Tyson

Recommended Posts

I was watching Bloomberg this afternoon and in quick succession observed:

Ouch! Record mortgage approvals in July

Biff! Sterling up against dollar

Zap! Oil prices drop

Ooomph! FTSE crept back up over 5900 while my eye has been off the ball

I want to see a crash as much as the next person - but 2 minutes staring at Bloomberg left me punch drunk.

You get one bit of 'good' news to make you think HPC is here, nearly here, just around the corner etc and then you get a good hiding as you observe that nothing of the sort is going on.

Marina you didn't mention many of the price rise predictions listed on the front page of this very website either!

But don't worry - thats only the end of rounds 1 through 5.

IMO that the UK follows USA and others think that the game is up across there.

So keep your chin up, chest out, and hang in there and keep slugging, the cavalry is coming over the hill.

Ding ding - round 6

It was July's data, September onwards should prove interesting reading. Will there still be strong demand? Unfortunately as far as I know, the mortgages were for new lending and not re-mortgaging. I reckon HPI has a little more legs in it yet.
