Interest rates are 'set to rise'
ALMOST three-quarters of economists predict another interest rate hike before the end of the year, a new poll has revealed.
A survey of 37 economists by Reuters found 27 of them believe there will be another rise.

:)

Are these the same economists who failed to predict last month's rise?

Yep. I guess we'll have to do a poll on here to get a better prediction of interest rates!

I think they have got it wrong again also. With the real rate of inflation at least double Gordon's Miracle Basket rate, we will see 2 hikes this side of winter. The second one to prop up the pound after the speculators start moving onto fresh fields.

There's a saying in journalism, "one's an event, two's a trend" - a lot of people on here don't even apply that standard. One interest rate increase, and you start drawing vertical lines on the graphs.

Economists have been saying for some time that they expect interest rates to increase to 5pc by late 06 / early 07. Anything beyond that is wishful thinking (at present).
