this is sooooo predicatble!!!!!

anybody get sucked in by the"hostilities are over" claptrap?????

france/EU have DELIBERATELY sent a miserly sum of peacekeepers to the region.

they, along with US/israel etc are angling for the maximum civil disruption they can get without getting their hands dirty, what better way to achieve this by paying lip-service to the notion of peace in the region......deliberating endlessly in the UN about the wording of a meaningless document which will not be observed by either side, and then giving totally inadequate support on the ground so the above has no chance of success!!!

We have a war of ideals going on,and nobody is going to give an inch......it looks like fighting fire with .......(not quite fire but smouldering embers in the UN and a can of petrol stashed in israel...won't admit to posessing a naked flame so the components are spread around so nobody has to take the blame)

Anyone reckon Iran will soon peg their Oil to the Euro? Or have i got my stories wrong and it's Iraq I'm thinking off - thus not likely to happen as Yankee pupeet government is in.

It seems those pesky Iraqi's have had a tough time this last century with imposed govt.

This'll make you laugh or cry.

Iran are currently paying out $12k in US dollars to the Lebanese whose homes were destroyed in their missile war against Israel. The US$ is still the favoured currency among the Jihadists.

IMO, Iraq will be left with a military dictator and the US and UK will pull out and let the chips fall where they may. The country is ungovernable and a civil war between Sunni and Shia Muslims must play out to determine the next long term ruler. No puppet government can survive in a country that is divided against itself. With Iran headed toward nuclear domination of the Middle East the betting has got to be on the Shias who are the arms and money suppliers to the Hizbollah. Shia domination and ultimate rule by Mullahs will at least unite the Middle East and, ironically, the West may find it easier to buy oil from a single power than a fragemented group all with opposing interests. Its a brilliant plan by Iran to do what they couldn't have done with Saddam in power in Iraq.

That just leaves the problem of what to do about the Saudi ruling class, who fear an Islamic state, the Syrians who are sunnis and Israel as the only other Nuke power in the region. :o

My research into Iranian history leads me to believe they havn't invaded anywhere since 1738, the idea that Iran is going to invade anywhere in the intermediate future only exists in the fevered imaginging of neocons who are desparate to come up with any excuse the can so they can attack Iran. The Iranians have signed the non-poliforation treaty, and the Iranian President has layed down a fatwa (religious order) that there be no Iran nukes. The so called threat from Iran seems to be as real as Iraq's WMDs.

Blah blah blah, lets invade everywhere . After they have done that in their imagings they plan to take care of China then Russia, and how they suppose they're going to take on Russia after the Chinese have killed them all is anyones guess.

Make no mistake most wars are about money, money from resources that maybe mineral or human resources.

America is after both since forcing the world to use $$$$ puts a tax on the world and helps prop up the $$$$$

Bush is also making a grab for the world oil with the help of international bankers from Israel so he can fill his own pockets and he didn’t even need to spend his vast fortune to pay for the attacking army, he just pulled off a false flag 9/11 attack and gets the American tax payers to stump up the cash.

Iran has links with Russia and Russia knows what Bush is cooking up so they will back Iran and Syria so when Israel tries to turn the whole middle east into a west bank you might see America being taken on by China and Russia in proxy wars.

The only thing that can save you all is to rush out and get yourselves ID cards or silicon chips put up your bum.

The Hizbollah are using US$ out of choice--its still the world's most bankable currency. A low dollar will cripple the world's economy that is why the world is not switching to Russian Rubles or Chinese Yuan.

Bush is a not making a grab for oil, its the "American" oil companies--BP, Shell, Total, Exxon.( <_< ) They just want to buy oil from the Arabs to make them filthy rich at $74bbl and pocket the profits themselves so they can pay their shareholders and directors fat bonuses. The oil companies are a power unto themselves and have been around beofre Bush was born and will still be around when President Clinton II comes to power for 8 years.

Why would we want to send a lot of UN soldiers to protect Israel when Israel have already been deliberately targetting the UN? Especially since Israel started the war.

I read an article today that says that the missiles that were fired into Israel were lauched before Israel prepared the ground invasion which came sveral days later. Also, there was something about kidnapping IDF soldiers before the Hizbollah missiles were launched. Seems that Hizbollah had been planning the missile attack for several years as their huge arsenal of Soviet made and Iranian supplied weaponry was not an overnight afterthought or a response to a sudden attack from Israel. The plan was carefully laid and executed and it was Israel that responded. I think you may have got the story the wrong way around thinking it was Israel that kidnapped the Hizbollah Holy Warriors and fired missiles into Lebanon?

What I do know of the timeline was:-

Hizbollah kidnapped soldiers

Israel then started firing missiles

Hizbollah (to most peoples surpise) returned missiles.

However:-

Hizbollah claim that Israel have kidnapped over 10,000 people in the past (although these are held in Israeli jails so Israel calls them legitimate prisoners).

Either way no side is the winner (bar Iran he seem to be trying to get in the Lebonese and Hizbollah good books).

Sure enough, crude back up nearly 2% today. European markets selling off (although not FTSE, largely thanks to its resource components).

TEHRAN (AFX) - Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Tehran will press on with its nuclear work despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for a freeze, state television reported.

Yup! Oil up, more inflation, more interest rate rises.

What amazes me is that the markets are reacting to short term geopolitical issues. The real issue is supply vs demand. Peak Oil. No mention of that from any of the traders or other so called experts....

Does threatening to wipe Israel off the map count (I know it is not technically invasion but it is a massively aggressive aim/intention outside their own borders)? Oh no, just another neocon fantasy, he was misquoted obviously...if everyone is as complacent as you about Iran and its nuclear programme, including missiles that can hit western Europe, we will all be dead sooner or later. Bizarre what some people believe but it is a free country (unlike Iran.)

The Iranian leadership is a real and scary threat to us and will need dealing with sooner or later, preferably sooner. They should try negotiation , but if it doesn't work, military force may well be needed.

"Negotiation" has worked very well for the Iranians. They keep turning down offers of incentives to stop enriching and researching and in return receive far better offers and more time. This is pure appeasement by the UN/EU 1936 style. But it will come to an end eventually. I do not see a peaceful conclusion to this all.

It's true - Iran are not interested in attacking others only defending themselves from those others; so Israel shouldn't worry too much about Iran.

Israel should worry about what happens when the oil runs out or the US identify a replacement - then the US will drop Israel like a hot potato and leave them to the mercy ( or lack thereof) of the all countries they have helped them upset in the meantime.

OK, if he was misquoted/quoted, whatever, why don't you prove it. You believe what you want, doesn't make it fact.

It is true. Iran supply others to do their killing for them. Their Shia warriors are getting beaten badly in Iraq though as the Sunnis have the upper hand on the bombing stakes with far more Mosques and civilians killed than the Shias.

Israel has nothing to offer the world with regard to natural resources. Big oil has no interest in Israel as they have no oil to run out of.

The fear in the Middle East is a takeover by Mullahs. The Saudis, Jordanians, Egyptians, and Syrians all have dictatorships/monarchies and the Mullahs are kept under control. Iran and Afghanistan are pro-Islamic rule and it is they who fund HOly Warriors to blow others up until their countries fall into chaos allowing a Mullah to rise up and impose strict Shia law.

Pakistan is somewhat pro-west as the military dictatorship in that country also fears an Islamic takeover.

Israel can deal with most Dictators and they do have reasonable relationships with Egypt and Jordan. However, the Holy Warriors set up by the Islamic States have no restraints and their goal is to destroy Israel AND to remove all Dictators and KIngs including the Saudi Sheiks to declare an Islamic Empire.

This one isn't!!!!!!

this is ideaology plain and simple.

it's about 2(actually 3) groups of religeous nutters who wish to impose their version of theology on the rest of us.

the oil is a convenient bonus.

Why do you think the beeb have been relentlessly putting on programmes about jesus recently??

I said several months ago that the word "revelations" was coming up very frequently embedded in news broadcasts. Now we have the biblical indoctrination designed to persuade our selfish, ignorant, materialistic population that they are in fact christian(pity they didn't show much christian virtue when they stole the houses from their offspring)

along with a few nasty stories about horrible muslims trying to blow us all to smitherines the aim of the game is to polarise the populus into goodies and baddies.

Looks like Enoch was right. This is brewing up to be nasty.
