Wondered if anyone had any knoweldge about this, we have found another property we want to move into to rent but its not ready (still being finished) and they cannot give me definite date, my 6 months ends in my current property on 10th august, then I'm required to give a months notice (standard shorthold agreement), do I have to give notice at the 10th or could I do it on say the 15th then pay just a weeks rent on the 10th September? or do I have to wait another full month before I can do this?

Notice normally must end on the last day of a rental period. So you would need to give notice by the 10th of August to terminate the tenancy on 10th September. So if you miss this deadline you wouldn't be able to terminate the tenancy until 10th October.

Check your tenancy agreement to be sure.
