U K Worst Drought For 30 Years

AFX UK Focus) 2006-07-27 21:13 GMT:

Britain faces worst drought in 3 decades

WITHAM FRIARY, England (AFX) - Patches of dry grass dot the otherwise idyllic countryside around this village of stone cottages and wildflowers -- hardly the calamitous picture meteorologists paint when warning of Britain's worst drought in 30 years.

We have seen how fuel "shortages" have jacked up prices for consumers now comes a drought which seems certain to be used by the water companies for some inflation busting hikes.

How long can the economy keep spending with fuel and other necessities draining "spare cash?"

The last drought in 1976 caused a enormous amount of subsidence. Therefore buildings insurance rates will rise further - painful inflation particularly for those on modest incomes. Perhaps Gordon ought to consider taking buildings insurance out of the basket !
