Hpc Confidence Survey

Recommended Posts

Fellow HPCers

Back in November 05 I started a monthly poll with the simple aim of capturing the mood of members on this site on a month by month basis. This has been pinned on this forum every month since.

http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=32455

Initially it received quite good support 130-150 votes a month up to about 3 months ago - that figure has now dropped to about 50 making it pretty meaningless and volatile. As a result I will no longer be posting this poll. If anybody else out there wants to pick up the gauntlet and run this poll to try to capture the mood of this site then please do so.

Keep the faith

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the effort in doing the poll. But to be honest it needs to more specific. It's a good idea to have a monthly poll, that is pinned. But can't it include a few questions?

If you started the poll around the first of the month you could ask people expectation of the MPC vote too!

I said this back in April, still think it applies:

The question is not specific enough. So more/less people are confident? Confident about what? A HPC? But they are bulls on here who don't think a HPC will happen - what about all those who may vote, but never post?

The poll needs to be changed so it can be measured, e.g.

  • Are you more confident about a HPC happening? Yes, No, Neutral, Don't know

But if you are going to do a monthly poll, why don't you do several easy to answer questions? You can easily do this on this forum, e.g.

  • Are you more confident about a HPC happening? Yes, No, Neutral, Don't know
  • Do you think price's have risen or fallen over the past month? Risen, Fallen, Same, Don't know
  • Do you think activity has risen or fallen over the past month? Risen, Fallen, Same, Don't know
  • Do you think public sentiment/confidence has improved about housing (prices rising)? Yes, No, Same, Don't know

And if you did this at the start of ever month you could ask:

  • What do you think will happen to interest rates this month? Up, Down, No Change, Don't know

You could easily incorporate the above polls in one, and have that pinned every month (for a week or so). You don't have to use the questions above, but it's a start!

I propose we follow something like that. What do you think?
