Hips On Channel 4 News

Recommended Posts

They just said about a government u-turn and that homeowners won't have to pay for a survey.

More on Ch4 news later in the program.

i.e. no ******ing change, surveyors getting money for old rope etc etc.

SHIT.

Havent they had thousands of people training to be pack inspectors or something?

What a surprise, Labour pull the plug at the last minute again. I suspect this was because people were crowing on about it leading to falling house prices, the last thing the government wants.

This is far more shocking than the Sipps partial u turn, AHIPP have sent us their initial press release, I know countless numbers of guys training/ready to train to become inspectors, some were really looking forward to the new opportunity next summer, they'd earn decent money 30-40k depending on where you are in the country. The govt. had merely gone along with the euro dictat part of the HIP, energy effeciency, the rest has been blown away, despite the weasel words from the govt. its been fukced for good.

Strange how the Tories were so anti HIPS and got their way, strange how continued confidence in this inflated market is worth more than creating a potential 7K new job opportunities. What a waste...s.h.i.t.

The image for the article is bottles on ice, i.e. bottlers put plans on ice :(

I feel sorry for people like a lady on this morning's letters page who's blown her £8,000 savings/redundancy (?) getting trained. She was complaining about the HIPS software ongoing pricing chaos this morning. Think how she feels tonight.

Awful, and bless her..

we have just had years of new builds standing clear 300% profits at least for the builders...

and the government not once enforced any form of ecologicaly sound improvements..

idiots..

Which they could have done so easily with a further tightening of the building regulations.

You must surely all be realising by now - this Government will do anything to sustain the housing market. ANYTHING.

Are you prepared to do ANYTHING?

HIPs were set to trigger a 30% fall in house prices

......

Home Information Packs (HIPs) would have triggered a crash in the property market that would have resulted in up to £1.35 trillion being wiped of the value of UK homes. This is the real reason for the Government’s U-turn on HIPs. It is believed the Treasury was growing increasingly concerned that the inclusion of Home Condition Reports were likely to plunge the housing market into chaos, knocking as much as 30% off house prices and plunging the UK economy into recession.

.....

Nick Booker, author of the In2Perspective report, said: “Our clients became increasingly concerned that Home Information Packs, in particular the controversial Home Condition Report, were going to have massive deflationary effects on house prices.

“Mortgage lenders, the property industry and the Treasury have been unable to voice their concerns publicly for fear of causing concern.

If the Gov were worried about Hips intro being blamed for causing a crash, perhaps they should have delayed it. Introduced it when the crash was in full flow.

A sad day, another victory for the corporate mafia Vi's who appear to run this blind country. The scandal of the biggest purchase in peoples lives remaining virtually unregulated.
