As an old Benfleet boy that tickles me!

They'll be choking on their poncy bottled beer in the V-bar - actually a mate of mine owns a flat above that bar. I'd love to see what that goes for when he sells it (IO mortgage - bought 2004.)

Thats very interesting. Until recently I had put in an offer for a flat. I pulled out due to some tangible problems but this means that there was a gap between me looking. I have noted that there are several of the same properties still for sale - so to my logic there are properties available which are overpriced and sticking.

I have also noticed a readiness to ask the seller when I put in a potentially silly offer - ie less than 90%. Previously my impression was that I was not taken too seriously.

So I am now going to rent for six months.

Also last week I put in an offer for near the asking price. Strangley the vendor has withdrawn the property - OK you cant get a trend from one point but wonder if people are putting properties on to test the water - who knows in 6 months time I will buy anyway.

I also asked both my solicitor, who is still working on weekends, and estate agents - both said sales are still good but prices are more likely to be met - mmm not so sure now.

Thanks for the examples - you could have saved me a lot of money - Keep in touch on this thread people, I am sure that we will have some more information to report back on. LOSHPD - I dont think I will ever see the day - but the affordability issue seems to be going my way.
