Historic House Price Estimator

Recommended Posts

A while ago someone posted a link to a website that took a homes current value and location, and gave a rough estimate of its value in years past (as far back as 1900 I think)

any one know the URL?

There's another site somewhere that compares growth in house prices v growth in income.

Was interesting to see that my parents first house costing £14,000 on a £4,000 income is now the same as a £250,000 house on a £30,000 income.

No problem there then, all I now need to do is convince my parents to let me have £130,000 as a deposit.

The difference is they probably paid interest rates of 12%!

And enjoyed having their debt eaten away by inflation.

Is it safe to say that CO's frequent contrarian 'casual' observations are fuelled by the desire for the last 5 years worth of HPI to at at the very least least plateau for a decade or so, allowing him to retire with a fat addition to his pension?

Or am I just too full of cynicysm and Pinot Noir?
