Ruffler Bank

The rates seem very good. You can also trasfer in an ISA and get 5.62% AER - I should have done that.

But I've never heard of them...

Looks like no internet banking:

We don't provide internet banking but can accept funds transferred from

internet accounts into savings accounts opened with us. Please contact

me on my below direct line if you have any other queries or if you would

like a deposit pack issued to you by post.

Yours sincerely

Click on the "about" link. Their main source of income seems to be loans against property.

Good job they are part of the FSC scheme...

Wouldn't touch them myself...

The chairman stated in the March 2006 report and accounts "our exposure to the property market has continued to increase and we feel comfortable at this current level although sales appear to take longer to achieve. In some areas we have seem prices increase, in other parts the market has remained stable."

He also states that "interest rates have remained within a fairly narrow band for a number of years and there is no reason why this should change within the next twelve months."

Of course, this report is now three months old. A lot has happened since then.

They dont subscribe to the banking code either and are a very small company according the their accounts.

They also have unsustainable interest rates.

I noticed that too. Apparantly ICICI aren't either!
