Just heard a trailer for today's Moneybox Live

Heard a few snippets of trailer:

"With houseprices running at over 8x average earnings"..."should you stretch to get a mortgage?"...

Initially sounds promising, but read the Moneybox live website and it looks it could be the usual VI crap.

Mortgages: Your questions

Ray Boulger and Melanie Bien are the mortgage experts VI's who will advise you to borrow as much as you can cant afford

BBC Radio 4's Money Box Live will be broadcast on Monday, 3 July 2006, at 1502 BST. [/s]

On Monday's programme, Paul Lewis will take your questions on mortgages and put them to a panel of experts.

Perhaps you are a first time buyer struggling to get on the housing ladder.

Or maybe you already own your home but want to switch mortgages.

Which product is best for you and what hidden costs should you look out for, such as exit fees?

Or if you are self-employed or have a less-than-perfect credit history, what is available for you? 'sub-prime' and lie-to-buy products could be the ones for you!

Whatever your question our panel of experts will be here to give you advice.

We will be joined by [impartial 'advisors']:

Ray Boulger, senior technical manager, John Charcol

Melanie Bien, associate director at Savills Private Finance

You can call the programme when lines open on Monday at 1330 GMT. The number to call is 08700 100 444.

Line are now open for calls

Wonder if any HPCers can get through?

Someone from HPC has got to try to get on this programme. I'd have a go myself, without a doubt if I wasn't stuck in the office I'm in at the moment...Damn and Blast!

Keep us updated on any bear / bull comments.

It's just waffle about how to get a better deal on particular mortgages, how to stretch a bit further.

Apart from scant reference to how expensive houses are these days, its business as usual

It was probably phrased as "an option"

it was interesting when talking about IO mortgages that the 'experts' very quickly went over the yourhomemaybeatriskifyoudonthaveanappropriaterepaymentvehicletofundthecapitalloanedbytheendoftheterm smallprint
