Most graduate nurses will not find jobs

30 June 2006 11:42

Four out of five graduate nurses are facing unemployment, according to a report.
Only one in five student nurses graduating this summer has a job lined
up, the Council of Deans study of 20 UK universities revealed.
The research showed the nursing crisis has got worse over the past year, with 50% of nursing graduates unable to find work in 2005, rising to 80% in 2006.
Gail Adams, head of nursing at Unison union, said the government had let down nurses

Makes you wonder what Gordon's Miracle Economy truly values? HPI and MEW it seems.

I really dont get this. It seems like only a couple of years back we had a national shortage.

Yes and Blair still tells us that health & Eductaion comes first.

Do you think all them immigrants that Blair let in to the country using the excuse we have a shortage will now return home or will they take other jobs the brits want

There has NEVER been a shortage of nurses. Maybe a shortage of qualified people willing to work as nurses.

As I understand it there was never a shortage of nurses. There was a shortage of beds however. While there is talk of all these NHS redundancies, it would be interesting to hear more about how levels of service and the number of beds are being cut (which must be happening). I personally know several nurses who packed it in when the wages were low, and were sick of being treated like sh*t.

£64bn NHS privatisation plan revealed

Adverts gaffe exposes move to hand over management role to companies

John Carvel, social affairs editor

Friday June 30, 2006

The Guardian

A secret plan to privatise an entire tier of the NHS in England was revealed prematurely yesterday when the Department of Health asked multinational firms to manage services worth up to £64bn.

So that's what they have been scheming to do--get rid of the problem to the private sector. More assett stripping to pay for Gordon's miracle economy! NuLabour--NuMonsterCapitalists. This would make Mikey Douglas on "Wall Street" blush!

Shame on them.
