Article: Advantages of renting over buying property

http://www.dailyreckoning.co.uk/article/260620064.html

Well, lots been made about the fact that first-time buyers are now all but totally squeezed out of the UK housing market. Housepricecrash.co.uk reports that in just 10 years the number of first time buyers has gone from 55% of the market to just 29%.

I think I will change this page from a pie chart for a standard graph though and bring it up to date so that we can see what is happening with first time buyers.

Do you see being quoted in the Daily Reckoning as a good thing or a bad thing?

I speak as someone who had received their daily emails for many years and have observed that the vast majority of their predictions have not come true (yet).

Seems to be putting a spin on a bad situation about to get worse.

The article ends with the rubbish that renters are going to enjoy forever renting, with the nonsense that everyone in europe enjoys this already.

I think I will change this page from a pie chart for a standard graph though and bring it up to date so that we can see what is happening with first time buyers.

As I get it, the FTB share of the market & the BTL share of the market remain fairly the same at around 7%, neither making a large impact.

The damage being created by the FTB at the turn of this century perpetuated by the BTLs following along.

If anything the BTLs have been compromised by the desperate 'get on the ladder' techniques of FTB at the start of this millenium, & I would guess the FTBTLs who in turn have compromised the present batch of FTB.
