China To Stem 'excessive' Credit

Recommended Posts

Have a read:

This kind of 'less credit, more control' story seems to be appearing more and more often at the moment. I wonder how (or indeed ‘if’) this will affect the UK? Is this another kick for the carry trade, or will another big lender emerge else ware?

On another point, some of you might be please to hear that new business in the development world is drying up – we seem to have reached a stale mate with land owners (people have some pretty unrealistic expectations for their sites), and even those with good land banks are pulling back a little. Personally, I think it’s the demand for larger units that is causing this pause, as flats are still the weapon of choice for high margins.

Cheers,

OD
