Rates on Treasury bills climb with six-month bill topping 5 percent

WASHINGTON (AP) - Interest rates on short-term Treasury bills rose in Monday's auction with the six-month bill climbing above 5 percent to the highest level since January 2001.

The dollar rose to an eight-week high against Japan's yen and gained against other major currencies Monday, continuing to draw strength from expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep lifting interest rates.

There is very little doubt in the markets that IR will continue climbing. The question is how long Gordon can remain on the sidelines. He is a difficult spot with No. 10 beckoning and his beloved Miracle Economy under threat by the one thing that can bring cheap credit to a rapid close: the worldwide trend in hiking IR.

Just doing my part in the uphill battle against the VI onslaught of propaganda and spin! There has been a deluge of it lately which suggests that they are on the defensive. :)
