Dom On Bbc Getting Tenant Deposit Back

Recommended Posts

Will the cheeky monkey get their money back, I some how think he will....10 months and it's over 1040k deposit I think.

Letting agent says they were model tenants, but guy managing the apartment[ says the flat needed new carpets and curtains after tenants left. Agent said it was left in good and clean condition, no inventory taken before or after.

Manager fits it out with new carpets and curtains then installs his girl friend in the flat.

Dom threatens with Inland Revenue .. both barrels, he's like a rat upa drain pipe. :D

Turns out the girlfriend is actually the Landlord, bitch

watching it now, it's amazing this 'landlord' what a git! like they say, how can the LL say thta the place needed new carpets and curtains when he never visited the flat before of after the letting? and he even admited that he did wanted new stuff for the girlfriend! amazing!

Dom is pretty cool too, he's very tenacious!

this is the worry i have, i'm a great tenant- i pay rent on time, i keep the flat in very good condition, i've called the LL when there's been problems(like the firebrigade coming round because other idiotic tenants have caused fires!). But there's always the fear he will just make up some ******** to keep my deposit.. :(

Dom was threatened with legal action by the LL solicitor if he tried to contact the LL, that was his last offer [plus £859 returned]

Next day solicitor rings back and offers full deposit back, and apologises on behalf of his client ....W@nker

RESULT :)

2,000,000 tenants

800,000,000 in deposits.

New Law coming this year to force rogue LL's to cough up witheld deposits.

Things Dom should take on next:

1. Fuel companys who've made massive profits at out expense

2. Water companies who mismanage our water supplies and make huge profits doing so.

Take photos when you move in and prepare a list of any wear and tear.

Gives you a leg to stand on when you leave.

Failing that, withhold the last months rent before you go.

Confirms what I keep saying if you have a bad landlord report them to HMRC regarding Income Tax. It is perfectly reasonable to suspect that if a landlord does not obey the law with respect to tenant laws/rights then they won't be paying Income Tax. If you suspect that someone isn't paying their income tax I'd say it's your moral duty to report them to the relevant authorities.

Yeah I know the Human Rights, let perverts out of jail early brigade will say that's harassing the landlord - well no it isn't, read what I wrote in the previous paragraph.

ok Rachel, I have to admit I quite liked 'Beat the burglar' as it was educational. (It may have had a different name as I may be getting confused with 'beat the baliff').

But 'to buy or not to buy' was appallingly shallow & repeated to death. Hopefully he will redeem himself with this new show.

I had to pay my landlady 6 months rent up front plus £600 deposit before I could move in. I really wanted the house and there were a few offers, she mentioned this tome and I agreed as I wasn't short of cash. Basically, she has £3500 of mine. She's a nice lady but you wonder if she will change when its time to pay me back.

Good show it is

I think Dom should start an entire new series just on chasing up deposits - be interesting to see what all these dodgey landlords look like and also to name and shame them!!!!

Some of the peopel on the show arent the brightest. One guy who has a young family just had a baby, they dont have any savings or alot of income, daddy decides to go and live his boy racer days and buys a shIt hot suburu imprezzer from a small garage. They are strapped for cash, and its not the most sensible family car to buy  Anyways, the car breaks down, costing them £3500 to fix which they had to take a huge loan out for.

They manage to go back to the original garage and get them to pay for the break down as it wasnt right in the first place..... Sorted, but i cant imagine the subaru is a cheap littler runner! Oh dear

On the basis the original poster meant GBP, if a tenant of mine gave me over a million qid as a depostit, I wouldn't give it back either!

By the way, this is my last post on matters relevant to this website, unless someone removes these stupid google ad posts.

If the feckwit who introduced them wants to ban me for the comment, its not my loss now.
