New Build - Nightmare Getting Credit As Postcode Doesn't Exist

Recommended Posts

To add to the criticisms on this site about new builds is anyone also aware of the nightmare renting/buying one causes in terms of getting credit references/credit checks because of postcode problems!

I've been renting a new build for 6 months and the post office advised me in writing of my postcode 5 months ago. Yet no other organisation - not even the credit reference agencies such as Experian or Equifax - has the postcode listed on their systems even after all this time. Despite the fact I am on the electoral register, am paying council tax and have a good credit history it is almost impossible to get credit checks (e.g. to open savings or credit card accounts) at my new address because it doesn't exist. I may be forced to move my bank/card addresses back to my parents address (and sign up to the electoral roll there!) if I am ever to be able to get a new credit card.

You wonder how crap the credit reference companies must be if their postcode systems are so hopelessly out of date! Some one needs to sort this nonsense out given all the number of new builds planned in the next decade!
