Unemployment Rises By Over 8,000

26/05/06: The number of people signing on the dole increased by more than 8,000 in the six months to April of this year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO)
The CSO said the majority of the extra names on the live register were short-term claimants, but the number of long-term unemployed had also increased by just over 1,000.
The figures represent an increase of 6.7% (7,171) in short-term claimants, and of 2.4% (1,051) for persons signing on for one year or more.

A little bit of a wobble at all?

Wow!

It's all over bar the shouting. Proportionately, that's equivalent to an increase in UK of 160,000.
