Highgate Garage Sells For £140,000

Recommended Posts

That is crazy. I wonder if there's buried treasure under there!

I read the story in the local paper and it implied that even for Highgate this is so far above the average that the only explanation is that they believe they will have permission to knock the garage down and build a house, as it is freehold with a small patch of land around it. Sounds plausible to me.

The garage, tucked away in Whitehall Park, off Hornsey Lane, measures just 15 x 19 ft, and has a small forecourt area.

can you fit a house on 15x19ft?

There may be a problem getting planning consent to build on the plot, in which case £140,000 is a lot to pay just for a place to park

the buyer is obviously certain in advance he'll get the permission. Don't know much about obtaining planning permission - is it that easy?

Interesting that he's from Muswell Hill. There are no parking restrictions there and parking on the street isn't a problem. I park behind a 911 and in front of a seven series most nights.

...and it's not as though they live in fear of their precious motors getting vandalised etc. Maybe if someone's too violent with a bag filled with balsamic vinegar and pancetta they might get a small ding...

But 140k to get your car off the road. It's not Tottenham...

Mount Mews garage - which is in the world's fourth most expensive place to live in - comes with a driveway, parking area and a mains water tap.

Whaaat?!?

Tanya Wicks, office co-ordinator at Savills estate agents in Canford Cliffs, Poole, said: "Sandbanks is the most expensive area per square foot in the UK and obviously parking specifically is very scarce on the peninsula.
