Another 600 Nhs Jobs To Be Cut

Recommended Posts

What the heck is going on? All this money that Gordon Brown was pumping into the NHS, now more than half the PCT's have deficits and laying off their workers.

The NHS is extremely talented at wasting money. You could give them an infinite amount of money and they'd still have to lay people off after they wasted it all.

Plus, of course, all these layoffs will be used as justification for giving them more money to waste in future. That's the brilliant thing about government work: the worse you do, the more money you get in future

It's really simple what is happening. Hospitals use huge amounts of energy.

All the "financial planning" that hospitals and most businesses do makes the

assumption that energy costs will remain constant.

Energy inflation is in the double digits.

Why this fact isn't being brought to the debate on hospital funding god only knows.

Edit: Sorry, didn't see Realist bears thread about this. I did look, honest!

Nursing students like Libitina certainly don't go into the profession for the money - because it's crap. They go into help people. And then after 3 years at University (which is actually more like full-time work for a nursing student because they are working days and nights on wards as well as having to get assignments done) in which they have racked up debts, only half of them can get a job.

And all this after just a few years ago, the Government imported loads of Fillipino nurses because of a "nusring shortage" , leaving the Fillipino health service in crisis.

Well done Labour, you've managed to f*** up two countries health services at the same time.

I'm sorry to say this Libitina, but when you qualify as a nurse, you'll be competing with nursing students from the last 3 years who couldn't get jobs as well as students from your own year.
