Recommended Posts

"Over 790,000 houses and flats for sale or for rent in the UK."

Rightmove

Is this just me noticing this!! Am I going mad??

I'm sure the combined figure was around 645,000 last time I looked??

...looks like a glut of properties for sale and rent to me!!

Guest Winners and Losers

Either Rightmove has become more popular or we are heading into oversupply territory (rubs hands together with glee while sniggerng in a sinister and evil fashion).

Before people get too excited, we should remember that in the vast majority of cases people who trying to sell a home are also trying to buy a home, so an increase in number of houses for sale doesn't automatically mean there is a 'glut', as it would for other commodities. All it means is there are more coming coming to the market to trade.

No-one hates these to$$ers more than me but I can explain.

I do think there is an oversupply but Rightmove have taken on a lot more agents. Savilles I think and all the TOP DOLLAR agents in London are now on their books. This is probably why its jumped massively over the 200K mark.

BUT.....

Around Allerton Road, Liverpool I dound the 2 biggest agents SUTTON KERSH and SYKES WATERHOUSE (Countrywide) have betwwen 320 and 350 properties on their books in 1 BRANCH!!!!!

So much for Rightmoves average of 70 per agent!!!
