Guest
We've got a chap called "KingOfNowhere" who will come along in a minute and tell you why you're wrong. Because apparently you have to subtract a bit from those rates.
FollowTheBear
Well if that happens then a crash and even a recession are a certainty. I've absolutely no doubt that I was right to sell up in early 2005. BRING IT ON!!!!! Edited May 20, 2006 by FollowTheBear
spline
Have to agree with magaflop here, when you correct for the risk premium you get something rather like this: Data from the BBA. Edited May 21, 2006 by spline

BuyingBear
Busy night tonight BB? Yes, we've been on the Teachers & Dr Pepper laughing our ar$es off to the Eurovision... when I'm suitably sozzled I like to get down to business, like monitoring short sterling movements this week. You can quite often find me in a drunken euphoric stupor laughing at a bunch of japanese candlesticks.

cupidstunt
Sorry to break up the Party but I've got a question to ask re Interest Rates! I have an Account with IG Index which I've used for Spread Betting on Shares in the past. I now want to use it to take a punt on Interest rate increases. I assume it all revolves around "short sterling" but I'm afraid - this I don't understand. Is there a good siite I can find that will explain it simply to me? Thanks

Take a look at the short-sterling section of IG, you see futures pricings like 94.9 for example, so 100 - 94.9 = 5.1% However, it's already priced in.
