Sorry to hijack a (non replied to thread from way back when) but I just wondered why my new thread started mid afternoon has not yet appeared?

"This will normally take between a few minutes and an hour, but it may take longer at certain times of the day, for example if you post at 3am in the morning"

Why.

And this is not intended to be a troll post. I am truly curious after thinking about it while cutting the grass.

Why do people want to own property, especially FTB and especially now.

All I commented on was that I could not understand wh you FTB'ers are moaning.

Although you are upset that you cannot afford to buy a property, in the majority of areas, it is way, way better for you to rent as you can get a much better property for a lot less money than buying.

Add to this the fact that you do not have to worry about the upkeep, are not exposed to IR moves, do not have to find 5% deposits or legal fees and can move whenever you wish (within reason) and this makes renting look fairly good.

There is the question of security i.e. it's nice to have your own place but is there also something else?

For the last few decades property, despite the odd hiccup, has continually risen providing good returns for those that have been owners.

So why is it that FTBers want to own property. Security or the belief that the property that they own will make them a big profit for doing nothing?

Just a thought.

you'd need to back date it 50 years for it to be any use.

Ad's everywhere, heavy handed moderation and the inclusion of buttons to fool the boss into thinking you are being productive at work.

Despite your very best efforts, it looks like 4800 wil be your peak :D
