Something else I've noticed happening. Go and buy your non-shop-brand battered / bread-crumbed chicken and look at the ingredients. A few months ago, it was around 90% pure breast meat - I was happy I wasn't putting anything too "processed" in my mouth. Now, today - look at the pack. Around 60-65% pure meat. The rest is now water, pea starch, and so on. Either prices go up, or our standard of living (and quality of our food) goes down. I already know people in Singapore and China that won't buy anything but FRESH 100% breast meat - and it's very affordable over there. Scary stuff, really. But I guess it's happening - just that no-one is noticing.

Mushroom
Er, make your own. Though I suppose if everyone did that another bit of the "Miracle Economy" would go. Great that added value stuff ain't it. Drink tapwater. Edited May 10, 2006 by Mushroom
Guest Guy_Montag
Maybe its just M&S Boots still do meal deals at £2.99 Yeah, but their sushi packs are smaller than 6 months ago. Still bloody good value, for the price of a crappy Ginsters sandwich, I can get a large bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice, a good sandwich, salad or sushi pack & a bag of cashews. Realty Cheque
Stealth Pricing Policy They lower the price of ready made curries by 5%, then add 10% to the price of toilet paper! Tissues have also gone up by about 10% in Tesco, more people crying perhaps? I've also noticed that M&S pizzas have also got smaller? laurejon
I am finding Sandwiches much cheaper these days. Last year a Romanian Sandwich in Soho would cost around 120 quid, today less than 45. Spit Roast also are much cheaper, at least 50% this year. Maybe Gordon should empty his shopping basket and change the products the reflect the low inflation we all enjoy today.
