Littlewoods sheds 1,200 staff

Britain's biggest home shopping retailer, Littlewoods Shop Direct, today announced the loss of 1,200 jobs as it streamlines its warehouse operations.
The Liverpool-based retailer is to concentrate all its warehousing activity in its most modern facility at Shaw in Oldham. As a result its sites at Eccles, Wigan and Worcester will close next year.

As the momentum of job losses gathers, sentiment will become increasingly negative and Gordo will have to admit that the Miracle has run out of borrowed money. At least the VIs can no longer say that strong employment numbers and IR are propping up the bubble. :)

One of the UK's major successes going tits up. I can see Littlewoods disappearing altogether very soon :( We dont even have a Littlewoods in Liverpool, closed down last year. I just hope that David Moores has taken his cash out of the group and keep it in LFC,
