We know you all moaned when we redesigned the site and took away the news part but I think you'll agree that the new news ticker is much better.

Comments welcome.

Edit: If you hover your mouse over the ticker then this will pause it from scrolling.

Possibly, but I looked at quite few javascript scrollers, and this one had one of the smoothest motions. Also, I think it actually looks quite scrolling vertically like this.

Currently I have set a 4 second timeout between articles, is this ok for most people? (By the way you can pause the scroller by moving your mouse over it).

Can you slow it a touch more? 1 second more maybe?

And can you make the banner deeper as the 2 headlines seem to overlap almost, making it difficult to read.

a longer delay or side scroll would be better, but its just nit picking.

It is a little fast.

It's very very hard to read - bloody annoying in fact...maybe side scrolling would be better.

OK, I have increased the delay to 5 seconds....

ok changed again to 6 seconds..... if you really want to read an article though, then I suggest moving your mouse over the ticker whilst you read.

Any chance of making the banner a bit deeper (the red bit anyway)

Thats better

I've adjusted where we crop the article text, so it should only appear on one line now on 800x600 browsers.

Looks good, however....

slower is better.. 10->15 seconds, looks a bit urgent at the moment.

The same article is shown whenever you jump to a different topic, could it remember the last article, or choose a random article to start with when you move to a different topic/part of the forum.

hmm I think that will be too slow. Just move your mouse over it if you want to read the current article.

OK I will look into this.
