Mortgage Firm To Let Most Of Its Workers Go

Recommended Posts

We had a house in the USA until Autumn last year so am interested in the carnage beginning out there. I'm very glad to be out of it. Now the mortgage people themselves are going bust.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/busi...14_merit04.html

"Like others in the mortgage business, Merit fell on hard times as the refinancing market dried up. Six months ago, it laid off about 20 people in its lending division and stopped making loans itself, acting only as a broker.

The problems at Merit are peaking just two days after Ameriquest, one of the country's largest lenders to people with blemished credit, announced the elimination of about a third of its work force — 3,800 people."

For those interested in the US market, try this link and go to the bottom where you can find news stories. Pretty much 100% negative at the moment.

Oh, I can't wait to see this in The Guardian... and the tumbleweeds rolling down Leadenhall Street towards Bank tube.

The Observer/Guardian stable will have orders to hold off on such stories and their implication for as long as possible.

Haha, only in the USA.

So what your saying is that the tumbleweed will be rolling down Leadenhall Street, the Guardian will be reporting a postive HPI and the BBC will commissioning another bloody "you can become a millionaire by renovating dumps" programme with a presenter with big tits.

When absolutely forced to the NL house mag will report a problem with housing "wealth" that will, of course, be entirely due to Global economic conditions, mainly the fault of American policy.

Party doesn't really matter, it's always World conditions when it goes wrong and "Aren't we clever" when things seem ok.

Seen it before, will again and, as I've said before, never know whether to laugh or despair.
