Why Optimism On The Uk Economy Is Premature

Optimism is sweeping the global economy. Last month the International Monetary Fund revised its world growth forecasts for 2006 up to 4.9% from 4.3%.

Now economic forecasts are ten-a-penny, and rarely worth the paper they're printed on. But of more note is the fact that the famously bearish Stephen Roach, chief economist at Morgan Stanley, said earlier this week that he is "now feeling better about the prognosis for the world economy for the first time in ages." More on that later
