Slowing Mortage Market In Line With Slowing House Market

Mortgage market slows to walking pace

Huge increases in house prices and mortgage advances in 2004-05 have been replaced by more modest rises in 2005-06, according to Moneyextra.
The value of mortgages being sought by Moneyextra.com users is up by almost a fifth in the last two years and the value of mortgages completed by AWD Moneyextra customers is up by more than a third.
However, the bulk of those increases came over 2004-05.
The rise in mortgage values over the last twelve months has eased back to the low single digits.

And now a huge slice of the mortgage business is re-financing to grasp onto fixed rate loans in the wake of IR increases and to pay off short term debt. What a mess this Miracle Economy has created. :)
