sorry but i don't believe a word nationwide say

O come on... you gotta believe their disclaimer:

The Nationwide Monthly House Price Index is prepared from

information which we believe is collated with care, but no representation

is made as to its accuracy or completeness. We reserve the right to

vary our methodology and to edit or discontinue the whole or any part

of the index at any time, for regulatory or other reasons.

Persons seeking to place reliance on the Index for their own or

third party commercial purpose do so entirely at their own risk.

All changes are nominal and do not allow for inflation.

But the group said the increases were being driven by London and the South East, with the cost of property remaining unchanged across 60% of the country.

Dream on Nationwide; the reality is that achieved prices and transactions have fallen.

Thanks Elizabeth, I am actually a Brit and been working in Japan for many years. I get back to the UK at least once a year to see family and friends and amazed at the house prices and cost of living. Comparable to Japan but cannot fathom what is underpinning this (OK - cheap money)!

I have been lurking on this site for some time as I plan to leave Japan in a few years and head back to UK or maybe NZ. Economy is booming in Japan and Asia is the place to be for the next few years. I expect either a big drop in property prices or a big drop in value of sterling. Either way is fine.

Maybe I will start posting more as I have broken my cherry.

Joe
