Investing In Portugal / Algave

Recommended Posts

algarve is very overpriced! lots of places for sale, money may be better spent further in land or central region where purchase prices are way lower.

also good example of what to expect, i have a property in central portugal, old farm, been getting quotes for restoration and also info on resale value

local builders are quoting full restoration cost at almost 45% less than builders looking for work from the algave, long way to travel for them but they are happy to quote for my job. iam not happy to pay 45% more to them!

also some have been trying to convince me by quoting huge unrealistic resale values...maybe they need to study the LOCAL market more... before talking rubbish to us unsuspecting forigners.

small ruins with land, in need of rebuild can be found in central region for approx £15,000

take a look at sites like

I am a UK property bear but have bought an investment property on the Silver Coast in portugal. About one hour north of Lisbon. Algarve looks toppy to me.

SO WOULD YOU SAY LISBON IS A SAFE BET :D

Why would I say that? We know the market an hour from London is not the same as London.

I mention the Silver Coast because it is being developed in a sympathetic manner at a purchase cost a lot less that the Algarve. Personally it is also a better place to spend time.
