So where did all the money go for all the sell offs ? Did the UK Tax payer see any ? No, the rich got richer. But privatising these firms would lead to cheaper "free market" prices for all right ? WRONG. The education system was also run into the ground. No more funding for youth clubs, no more grants and rent for students. The introduction of student loans (so more Tory City cronies could make easy money).

The introduction of student loans (so more Tory City cronies could make easy money). It was the Labour govt. that privatised student loans. It was the Labour govt. that abolished the last of the grants. It was the Labour govt. that introduced tutition fees. It was the Labout govt. that initially told us these fees would increase the money going to higher education, then one day they told us the money would replace current funds going into higher education. As I recall, this press release arrived at newspapers the day after Princess Di died. It was the Labour govt. that introduced variable fees. I left University in 93 (Tories still under power) and Student loans WERE STARTED becasue grants were CAPPED (effectively reduced by inflation). Rent rebate was stopped in 1990 as well as income support over out of term times. Get your facts straight.
