BOC hikes rates to 4% as expected

NEW YORK (AFX) - The Bank of Canada on Tuesday raised its overnight rate by
a quarter of a percentage point to 4%, in line with expectations. The
accompanying statement remained upbeat on the economic outlook and retained the
key line from March, noting that
"some modest further increases in the policy
interest rate may be required
to keep aggregate supply and demand in balance and
inflation on target over the medium term."

SNAP! Sorry for the duplication---exciting enough news for a double? :)

Yes, it's really exciting. Can't be long now until house prices crash 30%. Probably won't sleep tonight, with all the excitement about what's going on in Canada.

Isn't Canada now the only Anglo nation with lower rates than Britain? And pretty soon, if things don't change, we'll be taking their place as they overtake us?

Too true. Not too sure about losing sleep though, I feel somewhat comforted by the trend. Perhaps, for once, the IMF got it right--the property bubbles inflated together and they will burst together. Looks like IR will be one of the catalysts in the process.
