With digital music players already added to the CPI basket I wonder how long between the ONS reading this story and their weighting being incresed? I wonder what's weighting will go down to compensate? Not gas and electricity by any chance?

not in the basket any more anyway!!!!!...it's all disposable tat(seasonally adjusted)

try looking for a 2.0 GHz pc NOW.........2002 =£800...with all the trimmings.

2006 = £300

how often do YOU buy one????

the staples like shelter/fuel etc have long since gone from the basket.

...food in my neck of the woods has gone UP....due to increased transport costs too.

inflations should bear more resemblance to staple living costs than discretionary spending.

...by that measure it's more like 10% p.a.
