Is Housing In The Uk The New Messiah?

Recommended Posts

Just been semi listening in the back ground to the BBC TV program "Downsizing" In which a young bloke [to me] with a £500,000 downsizing budget ! Is thinking of selling up the family home and starting a new venture being a " House Dresser" of all things.

It begs the question has housing in the UK become all things to all men?

It supposibly nurtures you, rewards you, sets you free. And in return you devote your entire life to it, pay homage to it, become enslaved by it.

if you create a shortage of shelter...

then yes.

what else would happen to all the people not lucky enough to be sitting on a chair when the music stopped in 2001.?

young ftb.

this aint no sipping tea.....

this is no new order.

there is no clarity.

we just get poorer.

Please..

A DECADE AGO THERE WERE 2.76 PEOPLE FOR EVERY HOME

THREE YEARS AGO THERE WERE 2.6

TODAY FOR EVERY 2.1 THE POPULATION SWELLS BY THERE IS ANOTHER HOME BUILT.

The shortage of housing meant that durring the boom there were more buyers then people.

Thats because the profits were there.

Now there has never been more homes per head of capita then there are now..

and the situation is getting better daily..

There is not a housing shortage it's just a boom speculative market created by the vested interests who never cared what you bought as long as you borrowed vast sums from them

This market has been about convincing people that they are getting richers as they embrace massive levels of debt, that is all.

this is what i meant. i didnt mean there was a physical shortage or houses OR land.

only they are all bought up and holding out for extortative amounts.

= a shortage of what i would call housing.

nice post.

It is indeed a question of faith - we live in a godless, vain and lustful society where people are continually (and subconsciously) seeking something meaningful to pin their lives onto. People have faith in science and money... the path to communing with the latter and finding true rapture is currently understood to be through housing.

Like all false idols, it will break the hearts of the faithful.

Property the redeemer

Why?

Oh, I forgot, it was the divorces that have flat-lined since 1981.

Around where I used to live until last winter, the social trend was towards non-occupation, as they built more and more crap BTL flats that couldn't be let out.

REally, I know of no one living on their own..

Mate, if every fact that you see leaves you saying,..

Yeah but, Yeah but then so be it.

Trust me.

To have smoke blown up your bottom first you need to bend over...

Social change in a decade means that the oversupply of property is an undersupply...

Christ.. I am of to buy 12 BTL's

Not enough homes.. Single occupancy.. More popular..

You say single occupancy.. You know only half of it.

I was just told by someone trying to get me to borrow loads of cash for a mortgage that most people not only now want to live on their own…. But also wanted to have another place just to store their shoes..

His mate the Estate Agent agreed..

I can't believe I never saw this myself..

Heretic! This whole site is heresy!

Brian approaches...

Brian "Are you the HPC People's Front?"

Reg "F--- off."

Brian "What?"

Reg "HPC People's Front. (scoffs) We're the People's Front of HPC. HPC People's front, caw."

Francis "Bankers."

Brian "Can I join your group?"

Reg "No. Piss off."

Brian "I didn't want to sell this stuff. It's only a job. I hate the BTLers as much as anybody."

PF of HPC [nervously] "Sssh! Ssssh, sssh, sssh, ssssh."

Judith "Are you sure?"

Brian "Oh. Dead sure... I hate the BTLers already."

Reg "Listen. If you really wanted to join the PF of HPC, you'd have to really hate the BTLers."

Brian "I do."

Reg "Oh yeah? How much?"

Brian "A lot!"

Reg "Right. You're in. Listen. The only people we hate more than the BTLers are the f---ing HPC People's Front"

PF of HPC [together, nodding in agreement] "Yeah"

Judith [disgusted] "Splitters"

Francis "And the HPC Popular Peoples Front."

PF of HPC "Oh yeah. Splitters."

Loretta "And the Peoples Front of HPC."

PF of HPC "Splitters."

Reg "What?"

Loretta "The Peoples front of HPC. Splitters."

Reg "We're the Peoples front of HPC."

Loretta "Oh. I thought we were the *** Popular Front."

Reg "Peoples Front!" [scoffs]

Francis "Whatever happened to the *** Popular Front, Reg?"

Reg "He's over there."

[Consa sits on a lower seat.]

PF of HPC [To Consa.] "SPLITTER!"

I don't know, but in the not too distant future it's going to be crucified and a lot of people will be cross.
