Visordown, Again!

Hmmm

A bike website I frequent. A member has just sold a place and wants to know what to do with the money. Of course the usual "property, it's a no brainer" comments come out. Anyone care to help him out?

Perhaps he could use it to retrain as a doctor!

Maybe he could, because it is such an easy training and the job is a cinch, sheesh, some people!

Why don't you use your STR fund to do it, if it is so easy?

Oh come now - let's have your background - comprehensive or private? Toxteth, Salford, Moss Side or Oxford?

Let's not pretend that reading, being medically schooled and absorbing medical facts and stats is beyond most people. It's the opportunity and aspiration to do so that is out of reach.

Father, an Irish immigrant bus driver, mother a secretary. School, a comprehensive, in Birmingham. They told me I'd never make it because no-one from that school ever did medicine, well I proved them wrong.

good for you - is this the norm?

And doesn't this show if that if you could do it against this background then most people can - therefore why do we have restricted access to the training leading to ridiculous wages?

Absolutely not. Did I say it was?

You implied the job is a piece of piss to do in your posts. I have simply challenged you to put your money where your mouth is. My background is irrelevant in this debate.

There is no longer restricted access.

This year there were 200 unemployed SHOs.

I know many GPs who cannot get a job.

Good edit BTW. Why didn't you make it a new post?

What I am implying is that it is no harder to learn than any other skilled professionally educated job akin to an engineer making a techincal diagnosis reagrding a structures health, carrying out tests, calculating the implications of the results and proposing a remedy.

My GP must be bored witless - all that training to give booster jabs and refuse antibiotics.

Are we seeing the floodgates to training thrown open then? - You admit in your response that your background is not typical and the implication of this is that it used to be 'an old boys club'.

If there are doctors out of work, then it implies that NHS can't afford them - reduce the salaries of doctors and let's get them employed. We need all the doctors that we have trained to remain doctors.

Good night - and good luck with the patients tomorrow.
