Did My Eyes Decieve Me Or Did I Just Have A Post Removed?

Recommended Posts

It's the dead hand of commercialism, oh, how we used to mock Channel4's forums.

Which post was removed?

Home.co.uk is a direct competitor to our gracious new owners, hence they've gone all Stalin on us.

I'm not sure what's worse, removing posts or assuming we're all too stupid to notice.

Fubra or Webmaster have NOT removed or deleted any threads or posts, neither have they requested or instructed myself or The_Oldie to carry out actions on their behalf.

The moderation of this forum is completely left to the Moderators discretion. If you wish to attack anybody you are quite welcome to have a go at my goodself.

Well, well. Seems this is no longer an internet forum but a place where the moderators invite the people on the site to argue with them. This is now a commercial enviroment. I suppose I can't say that nethouseprices is a better site than ourproperty - can I?

Moderators of this forum are members just like any other member who were invited by webmaster to become moderators. They give their time freely for no reward and personally I would not even do it if I was paid.

If that is the case, how come the thread started earlier today linking to Home.co.uk is still there? http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=27839

This question has been covered already.

To answer your question about linking to other sites with property price info we are not going to stop you. I hope that the users try OurProperty and like it but if you prefer a different one for whatever reason feel free to link to that.

I would say though that OurProperty has more Scottish house price data than any other site on the web even ROS themselves as a result of us analysing the word docs from the ROS and putting them into a database.

We also aim to update faster than anyone else and have a clustered computer system so that we don't go down in times of high load like other sites. We also don't plaster our site with adverts and we are the biggest in the UK.

I'd like to think the users of this site would prefer us for those reasons and some more which will come as we improve our site in the next few months but it's down to you. We are in favour of free speech if you link to us we want you to do it because you think that we are the best not because it is your only option.

To that end we are working on becoming a lot better than our rivals and we hope that more or the thousands of users who have joined from HPC will come to use our site in future.

the new index shows that what a lot of poeple on here have been saying is true - falling prices!

http://www.home.co.uk/asking_price_index/HAPIndex_APR06.pdf

Comment

Current media speculation of a ‘mini boom’ in the UK Housing Market is not borne

out by the figures presented. Only four regions, (North West, North East, Midlands

and Wales) have managed to hold onto the gains made in the 2003/4 boom in

residential property prices. The 12 month market trend in these stronger performing

regions is one of price stagnation. By contrast the South, South West, East and

South East (Home Counties) regional indices show weaker markets, the latter being

the worst performer suffering notable successive falls.

1000s of hpc members have joined your poorly laid out site?

i doubt it

its quite amaturist in the extreme, this site is better laid out.

it also requires a "sign up" before you can get the exact information nethouseprices has for free without any sign up

How can you say HOME.CO.UK is a competitor????

Its a property website! It advertises houses. It has ads ALL over it and as far as I can see there is no forum. If this is a threat then NO ONE can mention Rightmove / Nationwide / nethouseprices / houseprices / abbey / firstrung etc.

I think this idea that FUBRA have turned into the Internet Police is complete b0ll0x imho. Things MAY get removed or moved but I dont think this has anything to do with FUBRA. Until Consa asked the question NO ONE questioned anything, then we seem to get this MASS PARANOIA that FUBRA are the enemy.

If a post as been removed then the moderator will explain why, as CTT states that no one (to his knowledge) has removed a post then you have to take this as read. If they have I am sure they will explain it or PM that person on the reason. I brought it too the attention of Webmaster about the RIGHTMOVE thread moving and it was re-instated. The reason behind it was a 'clean-up'. Is it not possible its been part of the clean up and not censorship as claimed???

I do however agree that IF posts are removed then the MOD involved should PM the member involved.

A check on both the moderator and admin logs confirms this.

Could we humble HPC users ask Fubra/Moderators for a formal arrangement then?

If a topic/post is removed/deleted etc then could the Mods post a replacement text which states why the post/topic was removed.

I don't mind things being moderated (kind of neccessary, I understand) but if there is an agreement that all removals/censorhsip is explained then maybe the HPC populace will be appeased?
