kenclarkesshoes
http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/politics/article356718.ece Fresh questions were being asked last night over an apparent "black hole" in Tony Blair's Parliamentary expenses. The Prime Minister has been claiming more than £15,000 a year for his constituency home in Sedgefield, County Durham, The Sunday Times reported. MPs are entitled to claim for the running costs of their homes, taking into account such expenses as utility bills, but it is unclear why Mr Blair is claiming more than £1,000 a month. Downing Street declined to explain but said it was not being used to pay the costs of a mortgage. There has been heightened interest recently in the size of the Blairs' mortgage debt, estimated to be in the region of £4m. Commons rules allow MPs to claim an "additional costs allowance" for staying away from their main home, and these can also be used to claim for expenses such as council tax. Claims can also be made for decoration and any repairs which may be "necessary" if a property is becoming dilapidated, although anything which adds value is not allowed. Downing Street said the Prime Minister had complied with the rules and that the home was used as an office for constituency staff.

kenclarkesshoes
you'll have the spouses of cabinet ministers taking bribes from dodgy italians next  oh...wait a minute i hated the Tories but any one of these recent scandals (loans, NHS money , expenses etc ) would have finished off the Tories. the public dont seem to mind. why ? the same reason they dont care about us killing thousands of foreigners. as long as house prices keep rising they are happy. as soon as they start falling they will turn on the govt with a vengeance just as they did on the Tories after 1992. SarahBell
Well he'll get a policeman for life to stand outside his door.... They said recently that the Blairs couldn't go to church at the moment for security reasons so I imagine their home life is well guarded too. laurejon
Why would Blair go to Church, he has a direct line to God along with George Bush. No doubt Voice over IP or VIP. When he is not lying in bed, he is lying in the house of commons
