Am I right in thinking that the 6th April is the day we can put money into ISAs again?

Thanks.

Yes.

£3,000 cash Isa for sure but the rest in shares is hardly worth bothering about - the advantages over buying shares outside an ISA wrappper are minimal (just capital gains tax).

It depends, I have been putting the maximum in for the last 6 years (some of it is in a mini cash isa). With growth and dividends, it is now a tidy sum!

I have a similar amount outside of my ISA and will have to pay some tax on capital gains for the just finished tax year, so it is currently limiting my cgt by a significant amount :).

You are also shielded from income tax from the investments I believe, which could be useful if you're near the next tax bracket.

A big benefit to me, to be honest, is that you don't have to mention any of it on a tax return, and I think I may have to do one of those soon!
