Sarah Beeny's Street Ahead

Recommended Posts

Hmm... don't usually watch(edit) stuff like this but....

With a budget of £700 per house want to add £20,000 to each property? WTF?

No wonder this c(ough)untry is fecked!

The wisest one on the street is the chap who refused to have anything done. His comment "£20k more for a lick of paint? I don't believe it" - I think he's right.

But will she finally get the beenys' out? :P

are they all going to sell their houses? (that may spark a HPC) if not then what is all that about? I always though that a "thing" has a price if it's for sale...

is this that dumb ass program where they get a street of claimants and oddballs and 'do up' the entire street ?

i think i saw it before once. they just painted the exterior green along a row of birmingham terraces. picked at the windows and called it a renovation. the salavating greed in the crowd was strong and they would gang up on anyone not though to be pulling their weight. totally crap. funny to watch though. ace how they cant work out that they are 20k down in pocket for the paint, not richer. if they ever decide to move the next house is suddenly 20k more. absolute idiocy.

they just sh1t in a hat and call it gold...!!

this is really the end of the uk. this will be watchable post crash. honest. it really will be good to watch then.

come back in 2007/8. tape it !! probably not one for the lucky repeats bin.

i dont even feel sorry for them because they are so greedy. they are only doing this for potential 'profit'.

not to brighten up the street. they are classic 2006 brits. greedy. self centred and stupid.

Hush your mouths... the uk diy sheds need people to think "buy tins of paint and sell home at a profit".

I won't have anything to do with that Beeny woman since she set up that dating agency thing. Could I get a date with her, could I *@?&^%£$. And then there's that restraining order she took out, what's that all about then?

I could have bought a Thai bride with all the money I spent on legal costs.

The problem with this crap, is its unregulated. You let muppets (ea's) decide how much a house is worth, then you have tv programs running a mock. We need some rules on this shit.

What happened in the program at the end? I saw five minutes of it then assumed that I could find out what happened in the end by reading this site. Not quite sure given the comments here?

George, does your comment mean that they got an EA in to say "yep, your houses are all worth 20K more" then everyone goes out and spends """their new money"""?

Ok, i'll try:

Some people clubed together on the street and decided to do it up. They couldn't be arsed - typical. Painted a wall, new rail fence, wasn't even half done by the last day. Then finished (how I don't know) all complete, all prices up £20,000 - bargain.

Oh, and some smart **** who refused to take part. Nice.

How did they know that the prices had all gone up 20K? Did they just announce it as a voice-over? Did some houses sell? Did they get a friendly EA to come in and value the houses? Did they find the figure £20K appear magically in a cooked omlette?

Bingo. Although, one of the residents was a baker so I can't rule out the omlette!

This is not the first time I've seen the "valuation" trick. It's a whole load of w a n k, if you'll excuse my French. The property porn programs can't show real profits like they used to, but rather than admit what's going on, they switch to EA valuations. What next, Tony Blair will turn up on Question Time with an EA who will confirm that TB was unaware of any doubts that Saddam had WMV. What if the UK isn't meeting its emission targets? No problem, get an EA in to estimate the amount of carbon in the air. The possibilities are endless.
