If You Are Declared Bancrupt, Can They Raid Your Pension Fund

Recommended Posts

Just thinking about some What If's with regard to my missus trying to force me to buy a hugely overpriced dump in chavesville and came up with this question.

If I have one, or several pension funds and are are declared bancrupt, can the banks get their hands on your pension or not. If so, how would they?

Pensions were lost where people were adjudged bankrupt before 29th May 2000.

WR&P Act 1999 now gives protection to all Revenue approved pensions unless the debtor has "stuffed" the pension prior to going bankrupt.

Yep you won't get away with putting a one off lump sum payment of £20k into your pension the month before you go petition for your bankruptcy.
