Arrangement Fee

Recommended Posts

So we had a cosy chat with the new landlord and his wife and everything seemed fine. Then the contract came through the post and with it a note that explained there would be a £100 arrangement fee. Is that normal? Bloody rude not to mention it in the chat don't you think?

Through Letting Agency or direct with LL?

My LL used the Rental Law pack bought from WH Smiths. I didn't pay a penny.

Direct with LL but it looks like he did the contract just like that with a few adjustments by hand!!

I can't see a way out of it because we love the place but it is annoying.

I would absolutely refuse any arrangement fee....I've never ever heard of such a thing from a private landlord direct. To be honest, even if you do love the property, the landlord sounds like an idiot and even if it was a footballers wives stylee mansion I wouldn't be renting from him.
