Rightmove Is Part Of Halifax Plc Group?

Recommended Posts

Today I'm slightly shocked as I never knew that HBOS owned Rightmove website. I always thought that rightmove were totally independant gave their own results rather than being influenced by other major players. But now after finding out that they are part of the big HBOS group, I feel that its like a conspiracy to manipulate the figures of property prices and how many were sold in roder to keep the market up.

Did you guys know this info already?

What do you guys think about this situation?

Do you think I'm being paranoid?

Yes I knew all along, I'm surprised you hadn't put two and two together.

Thier logo and name appears in the windows if their shareholder EAs

From their website:

Ownership

Rightmove.co.uk was launched in spring 2000 and is jointly owned by four of the UK's biggest estate agency chains - Halifax, Countrywide Assured, Royal & Sun Alliance and Connells. However, ownership and operation of all mission critical business functions are provided in-house.

Talking of stuff that you might not know, if you click on the number of replys on the forum page it pops up a window showing you who's posted and how many times.

I didn't know that.
