But hang on a minute. Is this the same Britain where consumer debts are an unprecedented £1.2 trillion, house repossessions are rising sharply and personal bankruptcies have reached record levels? I'm afraid so.

More than 10,000 properties were seized last year, a 70 per cent increase on 2004, and 67,500 people were either declared bankrupt or went into a special arrangement with their creditors (paying off only a percentage of what they owe).

Another good article from Jeff Randall

My Hum-Vee driving, chain smoking and whiskey swigging friends will not be impressed. An Englishman no longer has the freedom to careen around the M25 at 100mph whilst clearing his tractor of thick cigar smoke as the empty gin bottles rattle from side to side, what is the world coming to? Where are our god given rights?

I hope I'll be around Greenpeace HQ to hear their screams when they discover that real men now drive these
