Average Prices

Recommended Posts

It strikes me that mean prices are virtually meaningless - a few properties for £5,000,000 or a few at £35,000 will drastically skew a mean were the median is actually more like £200,00.

Does the land registry release median house prices for areas?

Also, is it possible to get median prices for individual boroughs rather than entire counties or cities?

If you want median house prices the best place to get them seems to be here

Tables 581 - 584 are the ones you want, but are way overdue for getting updated

Property prices may, or may not, be falling. It is hard to tell.

Homeowners in the City of Syracuse in New York State were facing a different problem a few years ago. Whilst home prices elsewhere were rising, but within Syracuse, they were declining. So the City inaugrated its Home Value Protection scheme, which enabled homeowners to ensure that they would not lose out if real estate prices fell. Apparently a similar scheme is now available for private home owners at www.livepropertyservices.com. It would seem to be the solution for all those who believe that the bubble may have burst.
