CRAZY UK IS HEADING FOR AN ECONOMIC CATASTROPHE

11:00 - 18 March 2006
All the available evidence indicates that the UK is heading for a disastrous economic meltdown and it doesn't take a Mr Micawber to remind us of the consequences. The transfer of much of our manufacturing abroad where production is cheaper is adding to our economic problems. It is resulting in the growth of unemployment which will only get worse.
There is also an increasing number of people employed in the public sector, one in five of the workforce according to the latest figures, where index-linked pensions and a lower retirement age than the private sector exists.
Latest figures show that it is costing taxpayers £81bn to pay for public sector pensions this year and rising alarmingly year by year. This is unsustainable in any economy. From where will the money come to continue paying for this?

No mention of the crazy house prices that are sucking money out of the economy into MEW machines to buy foreign goods. But at least they see that the "Economic Miracle" is smoke and mirrors.

Anyone notice how bearish the press are becoming lately? Even the BBC appears to be becoming less jubilant everytime the EAs say house prices continue to bring more pain to buyers.

Ouch, that's more than they spend on the education system, just shows you where the UK's priorities now lie.

one in five of the workforce according to the latest figures

Before Labour came to power, they did suggest they'd do this to improve our unstable infastructure

The fact is that it has not worked, its mearly created pressure for more pensions! It's this kind of backward thinking that have added to our impending financial collapse.

And now Labour have suggested they will cuts these jobs....altogether a crap government, with no grip on reality or the economy

Services are still terrible, hospitals act as clearing homes for the dead rather than what they were intended for

What the government failed to understand is that people in the UK are lead ultimatley by greed..hardly surprising when the average house price is 200k

If people had stable jobs & homes which to bring up a family services would improve

happy=good workers

money=more money

the people that live in that expensive town BATH probably know more than most about spending high on debt with moderate incomes. they all were fine to play the game when it suited them, but now they have blown it they hark a 'warning' - which doesnt even mention the real problem.

well my well heeled somerset friends. your warnings about 4 years too late. your childrens future has already been sold up the river many times over. there will be no solid jobs base for them, or even a tangible financial base for the next 10-20 years.

you selfish saps have spent it. you have spent your childrens future.

Better release planning permission for more houses to provide some productive work for people to do, then.

When the $hit hits the fan you will see lots of old style Keynesianism, lots of major projects, housing estates, new motorway schemes, more PFI schools, all paid for by ruinous public debt that will need to be inflated away and then payed off for the rest of our lifes.

At the moment Brown has introduced lots of soft-Keynesianism in the form of Excellence Cluster Coordinator's and so forth, this is nothing other than inducing lots of supply side demand as most aren't productive jobs.

Here we go again.

More desperate spin by RB. This time based on the ranting of a nobody called Trevor Watkins.

also believe it is only a matter of time before weapons of mass destruction will be used.

Why was this last bit left out? Or is this revelation from Mr. Watkins unworthy of HPC spin?

Surely use of WMD will affect the LR figures?

Spin? What spin? Article was cut and pasted. IMHO it expresses a widely held view, admittedly bearish. The article was posted on a widely used News source simply because it was deemed worthy of wider circulation. It isn't spin because it expresses a view that might dissudade people from buying houses at the top of the market. <_<

To find the spin read your thread headline.

Trevor Watkins is just a reader and the article you have posted is in the open 'have your say' online section.

He could have been complaining about flying saucers keeping him awake at night.

The Bath Chronicle has been one of the most pro-HPI papers around. The opinion they choose to put up on the web reflects a fair comment by a paper that presumably want s to be seen to be publsihing views from both sides of the debate. I am surprised they printed it let alone put it on a news feed for wide circulation. Posting is not spin but spreading comment that others may be interested to read.

Here's another letter from the have your say section:

http://www.thisisbath.co.uk/displayNode.js...tentPK=14175311

"Normally Sensible Paper says We're All Going to Be Turned Into Robots"

Left in the hands of power and authority we will cease to have even the vestiges of autonomy and become obedient biological robots at an evolutionary dead-end.
Because our technologies are based on logic, on simple yes or no, we are able to explore the universe, but our societies stagnate because they are illogical. Our brains are inundated with self-interested, irrelevant and contradictory information that impedes independent or progressive thought.

Again you are damaging the HPC "message" with your spin.

If I didnt know better I'd say you were a fifth columnist.

I'm going to start looking out for the most outrageously spun realistbear link. Anyone care to start me off? What's his most desperate posting to date?

Quoting the Bath Chronicle's article is spin?

Closer to the truth is the fact that bearish articles are rattling the trolls and bulls a little too much?

The HPC message is simple: A crash is coming and it is encumbant upon the Bears to post articles that expose the propaganda put out by the VIs so that the truth is known. If you trolls and bulls are upset by it why not post some articles that contradict rather than say bearish articles are spin? There are plenty of articles written by EAs and Mortgage lenders that say houses are flying off the shelves etc.

Thanks though for the encouragement as it is good to see that the articles are having the desired effect

It's not quite their article though, is it? It's just a reader writing in. Could be any Bear on this site, in fact, so what added value does it bring your cause?

IMHO it expresses a valid opinion and its unusual for the rabidly pro HPI Bath Chronicle to feature it on a news feed website. :)

Yes... if only you'd given it a more accurate title though. Then it wouldn't have been such a misleading bit of Bear Spin.

How about: "Someone writing to a normally Pro H P I Paper Warns Of U K Meltdown, Loss of productive jobs abroad are replaced by civil service jobs"

Are you f*ckin retarded or something?

This has got nothing to do with bulls or trolls or even house prices for that matter.

"If you trolls and bulls are upset by it why not post some articles that contradict rather than say bearish articles are spin? There are plenty of articles written by EAs and Mortgage lenders that say houses are flying off the shelves etc."

Again, are you retarded? Its not an article - its a letter. EAs are writing spin, so what..... we should just make up shit too? That will correct the problem? The economic imbalances? Is this the way your brain works? This is how you reason things out?

You need to check yer head, pal.

It appears you have deliberately misrepresented an article by selectively editing it.

You have done this before. What "desired effect" is it having? On who?

While there are clearly morons here who will applaud any retarded spin (yours and the mainstream media) I can only say this -

What youre doing is so calculatingly counter-productive that you are either genuinely dim or youre a fifth columnist.

On reflection, perhaps youre a figment of the webmasters imagination - designed to stir up debate?

People couldnt really be that dim, could they?
