Don't Miss The Boat......

Recommended Posts

Actually the price of houseboats is crashing through the floor (???). This time for the past 2 years you couldn't find one advertised for under 69K. Now this is about the 3rd I've seen in a row well under that figure. However the Mooring fees make it a worse deal than Shared Equity. When I was 20 it would have been romantic. Now I just view the whole thing as cold and wet.

I dont think they are economical in the long run.

One is that they have thin walls and dont keep the heat in well, and you d be spending a lot of money on heating the darn thing. Additionally you cannot fit roof insulation as there is no space.

It doen'st help when you are surrounded by cold water either.

If it gets really cold do they burn?

Actually it seems quite a good deal IMO because its only about 2 years rent and the mooring fee isnt that much more than council tax for a 1 bed. Its council tax is just £12/month. Heating wouldnt be a problem either as its not cold in London (unless you're a southern softie that is :P )

This baby would end up saving you some serious cash.

If you can live with the cold, well, you could add an engine, and drop anchor in the middle, foregoing the mooring fee. Buy an inflatable dingy, to get ashore, deflate it and then go to work!

Can someone pin this in the MSE forum....

Wow, now I know how to woo that posh bint from the office.

Only if she is 20 and stupid... in only the way a 20 year old can be :lol:

Its the industrial backdrop that really gets me going ;)
