6026.6 this morning, according to the Beeb

What's happening to pound against the euro? I always thought (naively) that the pound was linked to the stockmarket (which is linked to the economy....). I have some Danish Kroners and was holding out for todays rate but may wait a day or two. It's been dropping steadily for a while.
