Articles About The Housing Market

Recommended Posts

Guest The_Oldie

Following on from the re-design, we are looking to try and get some more content for the site. The first thing we are going to do is create an "articles" section, to help first time visitors and the press, with facts about the housing market.

Please post the titles for any suggested articles in this thread. If you would like to contribute an article please email it to articles@housepricecrash.co.uk.

Once we get some articles we will decide which ones to publish and then put the section live, with credits to the authors.

Edit: Articles should be around 1500 words.

How about just a simple reference table showing what mortgage repayments would be (IO and capital repayment) at 1/4 pt interest rate rises on typical mortgage figures (starting at 4% and going up to 10% say?) - would be useful for those too lazy to consider what the future may hold.

I bookmarked some useful pages fortunately

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Post sipps nightmare leads to lots of new builds that no one wants:

( i m sure we can all relate to that from what ever angle - BTLer [well eventually when they cant sell], FTB, OO etc)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And this one - global credit ocean dries up

(probably the underlying reason why things are like this)

I did a short piece that was posted on first rung, I think.

I am happy to write something on bubble psychology, but I suspect that DrBubb has already done it better...

A nice tidy article (IMO) can be found at Wikepedia here under Real Estate Bubble.

A real estate bubble or property bubble (or housing bubble for residential markets) is a type of economic bubble that occurs periodically in local or global real estate markets. It is characterized by rapid speculative increases in the valuations of real property such as housing until they reach unsustainable levels relative to incomes and other economic elements, followed by decreases (also known as a house price crash or a market correction) that can result in many owners holding negative equity (a mortgage debt higher than the value of the property). Just like any type of economic bubble, it is difficult for many to identify except in hindsight, after the crash.

It goes on to give a very sensible explanation.

From this page you can get to here, which looks at the potential UK house price bubble.

Enjoy

Regards
